Day of the Grizzly! (The Amazing Spider-Man #139) (1974)

Author: Gerry Conway

Artist: Ross Andru

Embellishers: F. Giacoia & D. Hunt

Classic 70s Spidey, web-slinging and worrying.

As hard up for money as ever, Peter is looking for lodgings in the low-rent part of New York.

Later at The Daily Bugle, business as usual is interrupted by an unexpected visitor…

…who seems to hold a grudge against Jameson.

Spidey lets the Grizzly think that he has won the first round.

Tracking his spider tracer takes him to a house in Washington Square, where he is knocked out much too easily.

Although it’s hard to believe that Peter would really be as incapacitated as he is portrayed here, he seems to think he’s in deep doo-doo.

Some pretty basic storytelling here with Spidey's power level fluctuating as needed so Gerry Conway can tell the story he wants, but Ross Andru's pencils go a long way toward selling it.
