Marvel Events and Crossovers Project Taking a broad historical overview of the Marvel Universe by reading through the major events and crossover events in order. (Thanks to The Marvel Event Timeline at https://comicbookreadingorders.com/marvel/event-timeline/ and Marvel Unlimited) Author: Steve Englehart  Artist: Sal Buscema  Inker: Frank McLaughlin The Red Ghost agrees to help Attuma conquer Atlantis… …using his mind control powers to conscript Namor, Hawkeye, and Valkyrie as well.  Unfortunately for him, this happens at the same time that Doctor Strange makes a breakthrough in his efforts to restore the Black Knight from his current petrified form.  Strange thinks all of the Defenders should be notified of his progress, and his inability to contact the enslaved trio leads to the involvement of the whole team.  Working behind the scenes, Dormammu and Loki set the Defenders on a collision course with the Avengers. Director: Terence Young Writers: Richard Maibaum & Johanna Harwood & Berkely Mather, based on the novel by Ian Fleming Stars: Sean Connery, Joseph Wiseman, Ursula Andress, Jack Lord, Bernard Lee, Anthony Dawson, Zena Marshall, John Kitzmiller When a British agent is mysteriously murdered in  Jamaica, veteran operative James Bond 007 (Sean Connery) is sent to investigate, ultimately facing the titular villain (Joseph Wiseman) on his secret island hideaway.   Still the best of the Bond actors, Connery combines a convincing physical presence with the suavity we have come to expect from the character.  Although he does not have the array of gadgets that will come later, other hallmarks of the series are introduced here.   The result is a fun adventure that is a bit more grounded in reality than many of the later films would be.  Ursula Andress remains one of the most impressive Bond girls.
