The Batman (2022)

Director: Matt Reeves

Writers: Matt Reeves & Peter Craig, Batman created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger

Stars: Robert Pattinson, Paul Dano, Zoe Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Colin Ferrell, Andy Serkis, Peter Sarsgaard

The Batman (Robert Pattinson), a dark and mysterious figure in his second year of fighting crime in Gotham City, becomes embroiled in the case of the Riddler (Paul Dano), a psychopath whose spree of murder seems linked to the secrets that fester in the city’s underbelly.

This Bruce Wayne is a traumatized figure externalizing his rage into a crusade to obliterate crime in his town.

Director/co-screenwriter (with Peter Craig) Matt Reeves has delivered the grittiest, most grounded movie Batman yet.

However, as dark as it gets, the finale provides a look at what Batman can become—a symbol of hope that inspires people to be better rather than merely an avatar of fear and vengeance, grinding away hatefully in the guts of the city.

Pattinson reinforces his reputation as one of our finest young actors, Dano delivers another off-the-wall performance, and Zoe Kravitz makes a strong impression as Catwoman.

They get strong support from a stellar supporting cast, including Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Colin Ferrell, and Andy Serkis.
