Killer Crabs (Crabs #2) (1978)
HALLOWEEN REVIEWS 2021
by Guy N. Smith
The giant crabs return to wreak havoc around Australia's Great Barrier Reef, and survivor Cliff Davenport from the first book is called in as an advisor.
"Ticks of Death" (Polish) |
The clock is running: will Cliff and a couple of allies be able to locate the crabs’ spawning grounds and call in an airstrike before the ocean currents can carry the larvae to every corner of the seven seas?
Guy N. Smith was so prolific that it’ll be a long time, if ever, before I can say I’ve read a representative sample of his work, but I’ve formed a higher opinion of him than most of the reviewers I’ve encountered on the Interwebs.
Guy N. Smith |
He’s not going to rocket to the top of anyone’s list with amazing prose or penetrating characterization, but so far I find him to be a solid storyteller.
This slim book moves along nicely with some good gory bits, more of Smith’s patented awkward sex, and a promising climax that he doesn’t quite exploit to the fullest.
"Cannibal Crabs" (Greek) |
Even some disposable nonsense about some shady characters at a beachfront resort managed to hold my interest.
