Reproduction is the key to survival in a futuristic dystopian struggle among humans, clones, and super-charged killing machines.

I don’t see much anime and I don’t read any manga.

I get the impression that I’m a little more forgiving toward this production than fans are, since I know nothing of the source material from which this film apparently diverges pretty significantly.

I was enthralled by the animation and I found the story interesting, albeit rather exposition-heavy.

I wasn’t put off by the melodrama as much as some reviewers were because I expected that going in.

It’s my impression that anime in general is pretty melodramatic, but maybe someone out there can tell me if I’m mistaken.
