The Invitation (2015)

Director: Karyn Kusama

Writers: Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi

Stars: Logan Marshall-Green, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Tammy Blanchard, Michiel Huisman, John Carroll Lynch, Aiden Lovekamp

Still recovering from the accidental death of their child, Will (Logan Marshall-Green) takes his girlfriend (Emayatzy Corinealdi) to a dinner party hosted by his ex-wife (Tammy Blanchard) and her new husband (Michiel Huisman).

Lots of suspicious things happen...or do they?

This is a fantastic film that uses the way unresolved grief can warp the human personality as a catalyst for a tense and moving experience.

John Carroll Lynch stands out in a fine ensemble cast as a mysterious and creepy guest.

The final shot may strike some viewers as a bit far-fetched, but I liked the way it seemed to comment that there is something profoundly unsettled in our society at this time.

Spoiler here!!!
