A pair of slacker buddies (Chase Williamson and Rob Mayes) who dabble in paranormal investigation stand between our world and an invasion from another dimension via a mind-bending drug called soy sauce.

 


The narrative employs a convoluted structure that fits its subject matter of perception-altering substances and extra-dimensional horror. 





Writer/director Don Coscarelli manages to pay off the confusing, surreal first half with an equally surreal conclusion that makes about as much sense as it reasonably could.

 




Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti (also a producer on the film) turn in some fun supporting performances.
